5-st Khrushev series

The construction started in the mid-1950s. You can find Khrushchev-era buildings on Vidradnyi Avenue and in Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. The buildings have a robust look without any decorations, including façade decorations.

These are 5-storey buildings with 4 apartments per storey and 3 – 5 front access doors (entrance halls).

The majority of apartments (95%) have communicating rooms. Ceilings are from 2.7 to 2.75 m high.

Floors are covered with parquet or parquet planks.

Almost all kitchens are equipped with gas cookers and sometimes boilers. But there are no elevators or rubbish chutes. Restrooms are mainly combined with bathrooms.

An upper storey or a transverse roof was used as an engineering storey.

Area of the apartments is small.

Additional information: Construction of Khrushchev-era buildings in a transition period was characterized by focusing on speed and number of houses. They were meant to accommodate a great number of people. As a result, they obtained apartments, but there was not much to boast of in terms of their quality. They were something in between common Khrushchev- and Stalin-era buildings.
