The construction started in the early 1960s.
These are 9-storey brick and panel buildings with armoured concrete floors. Houses have a robust look without any decorations, including façade decorations. At that time, brick buildings were faced with glazed tile and panel buildings were equipped with elevators.
The number of entrance halls varies from 3 to 5.
Houses consist of one- to three-room apartments, and in Kyiv, there are three or four apartments per storey. The majority of apartments (95%) have communicating rooms. Ceilings have an average height of about 2.5 m.
Floors are covered with parquet or parquet planks.
Apartments are equipped with gas cookers. Houses are not equipped with rubbish chutes and an engineering storey. The area of the engineering storey, if any, is small. Only one elevator is available.
Restrooms are combined with bathrooms.
The area of apartments varies but mainly is small.
A lot of 9-storey Khrushchev-era buildings of that period were built very fast. Many people needed accommodation, so the government tried to meet all those needs. They managed to do that but with compromise in the quality of housing.
