Houses of KTM series emerged in the 1990s. Their exterior resembles an exterior of their predecessors of KT series. You can find buildings with such layout in commuter towns of Kyiv.
The majority of them are 16-storey buildings, but there are also 12- or 18-storey buildings with a large engineering storey. There are 4 apartments per storey. One panel covers two windows.
Walls are made of lightweight expanded clay aggregate — a new winterized panel. Houses have armoured concrete floors.
Such houses are often described as having dark rusticated dressing as if the building was dusted.
The number of front access doors varies.
Houses consist of one- to three-room apartments. They have a separated layout and relatively high ceilings (from 2.7 to 2.75 m). Three-room apartments have a corridor (with the area from 9 to 12 m2), a hall and two balconies.
Floors are covered with linoleum.
Kitchens are equipped with electric cookers and in the previous series — with gas cookers.
One freight and one passenger elevator are available for tenants of houses of KTM series. Rubbish chutes are located behind elevators on each storey.
Semi-recessed balconies are bevelled.
